Where is the event held?

The event is held at the Canadian War Museum, 1 Vimy Place, Lebreton Flats.

Will there be road closures on event day?

Yes. The John A. Macdonald Parkway will be closed between 6 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Sunday, May 7. Click here to see a full list of road closures. Be sure to choose an alternate route to the museum.

Where can I park?

There is indoor parking at the museum but spaces are limited. Parking is usually at full capacity by 7 a.m. so please allow for time to find alternate parking.

Indoor parking is $2.50 per half hour. The daily maximum rate is $12.50.

Alternate parking: There is additional parking on streets near the museum. These parking lots are all a short cycle (approximately one to two kilometers) from the Canadian War Museum:

  • Tunney’s Pasture – Brooke Claxton Building
  • Place de Ville – Queen and Kent
  • Place du Portage –  Rue Maisonneuve
  • Terrasses de la Chaudière – Rue Eddy

I want to avoid line-ups on event day so can I get my bib and fundraising prizes early?

Yes.  Pick up your bib, fundraising prizes and hand in any offline pledges with your completed pledge form on one of the following dates at the Canadian War Museum:

  • Today, 3 p.m. – 7 p.m. (Atelier C)
  • May 5, 3 p.m. – 8 p.m. (Barney Danson Theatre)
  • May 6, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. (Barney Danson Theatre)
  • May 7, 7 a.m. – 10 a.m. (Barney Danson Theatre)

  What time do the events start?

Event start times are as follows:

  • Ericsson 70K Cycle – 8:30 a.m.
  • Coughlin & Associates 35K Cycle – 9:00 a.m.
  • Esso 15K Cycle & In-line Skate – 10:00 a.m.
  • CIRA 5K Walk and Sporting Life 2K Walk – 10:15 a.m.

Please plan to arrive at least a half an hour before your start time.

If the weather is bad, will the event be cancelled?

CN Cycle for CHEO is a rain or shine event. However, in the case of extreme weather conditions (lightening, torrential rain, etc.) a notice will be sent by email at 6 a.m. on event day. In addition, a notice will be sent to all media outlets in the Ottawa area and posts will be made on social media. Visit www.facebook.com/CNcycle if you are unsure if the event will happen or not.

Where can I park my bike or leave my bags?

All baggage and bikes can be dropped off at the bike parking tent. Baggage will be safely stored inside the tent and away from inclement weather. Bikes will be securely parked, with no locks required. Our volunteers will tag your bike with your bib number. To retrieve your bike you must present your bib. Baggage check and bike parking is free. Bikes are not permitted inside the Canadian War Museum.

How can I win WestJet tickets?

If you raise $250 or more, you are eligible for a chance to win two tickets courtesy of WestJet. Ballots are available at registration at the Canadian War Museum. Please bring all ballots to the registration area before you leave on your route. If you forget, make your way to the main stage before noon.

I want to change my route. Do I need to let anyone know?

Yes. If you wish to change the distance you will be cycling or walking, please ensure to go to registration to get the appropriate bib. For safety reasons it is very important that organizers know which route you are on.

Will there be activities on site?

Yes. CN Cycle for CHEO is a fun, family event. After you finish your route, there will be lots to see and do. Planned activities include:

Complimentary team photos, entertainment by Sticks n’ Stones, balloon animals by Orbital Talent, Family BBQ (free to participants or by donation), bouncy castles, Little Ray’s Reptiles, and a petting zoo.

I have some last minute cash donations. What do I do?

Please record all cash donation information on the pledge form and bring any cash donations to registration. Download the pledge form here (Kim please insert link to pledge form)

I hear that the routes are fully supported. Are there areas open to traffic?

Organizers have created a fully supported route but construction and vehicle traffic in certain areas may intersect with the routes. Please click here for information on each route. (Kim please add the link to the safety precautions we did last week.) Police officers and volunteers will be positioned along each route for your safety. Please obey all instructions.

I registered to fundraise but haven’t raised the minimum amount required to waive the registration fee. Can I still participate?

Yes. If you have not fundraised the minimum amount required ($50 for adults, $20 for children), you will just need to pay the difference when you pick up your bib.

For example, if you registered as an adult fundraising participant and have only raised $30 you will need to pay the remaining $20.

Payments can be made by credit card, cash or cheque. This only applies if you selected the participant type “Adult-Fundraiser” or “Child-Fundraiser” when registering.
