The Ottawa Citizen has been a major sponsor of CHEO’s annual cycling event for nearly two decades and we are proud to once again be supporting the CN Cycle for CHEO. Everyone at the Citizen shares a passion for helping kids and a common commitment to supporting activities that improve the lives of so many in our community.
The CN Cycle is CHEO’s largest fundraising event for pediatric cancer. Over the years, participation in the event has broadened to include corporate teams, community groups, minor sports teams and some of CHEO’s extended families. We will continue to do our part by inspiring more and more groups to join with us through the Ottawa Citizen Team Challenge which is our invitation to rally behind local children and families who must confront the challenges of pediatric cancer.
I invite you to organize your co-workers, teammates, friends and family to join with us to show these kids that we care and that we stand alongside them when they need us most. The challenge is to raise as much money as you possibly can and to encourage others to do the same.
Please sign up for the Ottawa Citizen Team Challenge today and take part in the CN Cycle for CHEO on Sunday, May 2nd. Together we can help CHEO to provide the best possible care for kids with cancer.
Thank you.

Fundraising Tips
Tips for Top Fundraising Success
- Start early.
- Begin with the people you know will offer a donation. This will ensure success on your first day of fundraising and will boost your confidence for the more difficult asks.
- Ask everyone-no pledge is too small and every little bit helps.
- Smile when you ask for a donation.
- Always reciprocate. If you bought chocolates to support a friend's child's school program, they can sponsor you.
- Ask for an increase over their previous donation.
- Take your pledge materials everywhere you go. You never know who you will meet.
- If you've registered online, e-mail everyone in your address book requesting a donation.
- Always thank people for their pledge and inform them as to how their donation helps.
